If you're celebrating Easter with family or friends, why not create a homespun table decoration to form the centrepiece of the festivities? With all the flowers of spring on offer, it's cheap and simple to make a beautiful display - something that will fill your dining room with a blast of seasonal colour.
Scour your garden for pretty blooms, or buy a couple of bunches from the supermarket. You don't need any special floristry kit to create something with wow-factor, and it's possible to use shop-bought, value-for-money Easter decorations to embellish your display. Get children involved too - our project is perfect for little ones meaning all the family can be part of the fun.
Step by step
Half fill the vase with water, and add a few twigs. They need to be slightly taller than your flowers so cut them to length.
Add the seasonal blooms to the vase one at a time. Cut them to length as you go, removing any excess leaves.
Hang Easter decorations on the branches and to any sturdy flower stems. Kids will love this bit.
Move the vase to its final location and top it up with water. Be careful not to overfill.
Decorate around the bottom of the vase with small chocolate eggs and other Easter trappings. Nestle some among the flowers too.
